Californians Can Stop Plastic Pollution

Plastic pollution kills fish and marine mammals. There’s even a name—The Great Pacific Garbage Patch—to describe accumulated waste in the ocean.

Yet California lawmakers are considering a bill that would increase plastic pollution in the waterways.

The bill, A.B. 44, would ban the sale and production of natural fur coats and other garments in California. The result will be consumers buying fake fur made from harmful plastic microfibers. Based on scientific research into how plastic clothes “shed” microfibers, washing a fake fur coat just once could result in 100,000 microfibers getting into the water supply.

Consumers shouldn’t have natural choices taken away from them. Sign the letter below to tell California legislators to vote NO on A.B. 44.
