  1. Farmer Dragged Through the Mud By Animal Activists

Comments Off on Farmer Dragged Through the Mud By Animal Activists

The California-based Direct Action Everywhere has made breaking into farms and “rescuing” (stealing) livestock a signature campaign. It may have inspired a similar situation involving a Maryland farmer who found himself in the crosshairs of vegan activists.

In late April, Baltimore County Police were called to a family farm when Scott Braglio discovered that his family pet, a calf named Milly, had been stolen. Braglio had previously recorded the license plate of the vehicle two animal activists used to trespass onto his farm—just two days before the heifer heist.

The two activists, Jennifer Lauren Sully and Erika Lynn Wilkinson, had charges including theft and trespassing brought against them in May. The calf was found by police at a sanctuary called Life with Pigs, after the two activists has posted photos with the calf to social media. Officers later recovered the stolen calf from Life with Pigs and returned the calf to the Braglio farm after finding there was no abuse done to the calf.

Wilkinson runs the local group “DMV Actions for Animals” in the DC area. A message on the group’s Facebook page indicates she is interning for PETA this summer.

Unfortunately the story doesn’t end here.

Animal rights protesters have gone so far as to protest the Braglio farm and restaurants it partners with. This has even included the act of protestors pouring a bucket of fake blood on themselves outside the farm-to-table restaurant. In addition to the restaurant, the protesters have targeted the farm itself.

Ryan Phillips, the owner of Life with Pigs, allegedly tried to buy the calf from Braglio. After a phone call in which Braglio refused to sell his beloved pet, Philips allegedly filed a complaint and had charges filed against the farmer. The charges were soon dismissed and Braglio feels he has been cleared of wrongdoing on all accounts.

That hasn’t stopped Phillips though who continues to mount a campaign to try to get the calf back, going so far as threaten to “spend the next 20+ years if necessary fighting.”

The Braglio farm, which was vindicated of animal abuse, doesn’t deserve this. No farmer does. Now, because of the events that occurred, the farm faces decades of harassment.

Farmers love their animals. The fact that vegan activists refuse to understand that doesn’t give the right to break in and steal them.

  2. PETA’s President Still Loathes Humans

Comments Off on PETA’s President Still Loathes Humans

In the subtitle of recent interview of Ingrid Newkirk, The New Statesman asks an important question: “Has [PETA’s] founder gone too far?”

We certainly believe yes. Why else would we write hundreds of posts documenting the hypocrisies and atrocities PETA has committed in its nearly 40-year history?

But helpfully, Newkirk makes our case for us in this interview.

Even at 70, Newkirk continues to show complete disregard for the Holocaust and slavery and continues to compare these horrible events to zoos and farms. In the past PETA exhibits have even shown slaves next to animals and earned condemnation from groups like the NAACP.

“To animals all humans are Nazis. I’m ashamed of many humans,” she says. But not, apparently, of her fellow travelers at PETA, who kill close to 2,000 cats and dogs every year.

Newkirk reveals she sterilized herself at the age of 22 because she thought that humans were equivalent to Nazis. And after she dies, she plans on having her body mutilated to make a point.

She also does not seem to have mellowed from her past defense of extremism. “I wouldn’t mind razing a building if it was used as a terrible place to torture living beings,” she admits. Keep in mind that her definition of animal torture apparently encompasses zoos, aquariums, farms, and the local fish market.

Elsewhere, she says she doesn’t believe the blind should have guide dogs and that she’s against animal research on rats even if it led to a cure for AIDS. These positions—radical enough in  their own right—seem almost mellow compared to the other outlandish views she espouses.

It’s clear Newkirk has some serious self-hatred based in her membership to the human race. Over the years Newkirk has built an organization that will stop at nothing to push the vegan agenda. The self-described “press-slut” holds a tenacious grip on the steering wheel of the clown car that is PETA. The real question is: Can PETA survive Ingrid Newkirk?

  3. Will the IRS Crack Down on Animal Activists?

Comments Off on Will the IRS Crack Down on Animal Activists?

It seems harassment from animal activists is on the rise. And it’s high time the IRS and FBI do something about it.

Last week, we filed a complaint with the IRS and FBI regarding PETA and two California-based groups called Direct Action Everywhere (DxE) and Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation. These are radical groups lobbying to dictate lifestyle decisions on Californians–and we believe these organizations have abused the nonprofit tax code.

    Consider:

    • Direct Action Everywhere breaks into farms and terrorizes farmers. The group has also intimidated shoppers at Whole Foods, Chipotle, and other businesses. Its actions may well be in violation of the federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. The group’s activists are facing criminal charges in several states and may have violated the federal Animal Enterprise Terrorism Act. DxE is a network funded by a tax-exempt charity called Friends of DxE.
    • Animal Hope and Wellness Foundation has been accused of leaving dogs to die horribly in Asia instead of rescuing them—the group’s supposed charitable mission. Its executive director also served time in California prison for felony kidnapping.
    • PETA has given tax-exempt donations to fund the efforts of Direct Action Everywhere, according to its most recent tax return. PETA has also given money to the Earth Liberation Front (considered a domestic terrorist group by the FBI) and to defend an arsonist who burned down a university laboratory. PETA activists have also been arrested on numerous occasions.

These groups have been involved in lobbying for fur bans in California, at the local or state level. But make no mistake. This radical lifestyle dictation from PETA and other extremists won’t end with fur. These activists don’t believe people should be able to buy leather, wool, and other clothing derived from animals. They don’t want people to be allowed to buy a hamburger. PETA is even against owning pets.

While everyone has free speech rights, harassing people and getting arrested aren’t legitimate nonprofit activity. It’s time for the feds to end the charade and hold activists accountable.

  4. Former PETA Employee Speaks Out

Comments Off on Former PETA Employee Speaks Out

There’s a limit to how brainwashing a person can take. Even for a PETA employee.

Laura Lee Cascada, an ex-employee of PETA, took to Medium to air her grievances with the hypocritical, pet-killing organization. Given the article’s long length, we have decided to highlight the most important and damning details:

    1. PETA starts its cultish indoctrination process from the start.

The article’s author goes into great detail to describe how “all employees are carefully groomed through issues training.” This training includes claims that euthanasia is what’s best for the animals and that PETA has a savior complex, believing that they are fixing the mess that humans created.

    1. If you go against them they will find you.

On multiple levels PETA likes being in control of its employees. The author describes receiving long emails from a boss for helping an ailing aunt find a shelter for her pets. It also has a network of employees who will monitor your activity—even outside the workplace.

    1. PETA still likes to kill fast.

A moment is described in which the author told her mom of a dog she recently rescued. When the mom quickly told her daughter she would be interested in adopting the animal—a pit bull—the author found it was too late. Only a few days had passed, but PETA had already killed the animal, which seemed to show no indicators of poor health.

    1. PETA doesn’t seem to care about what it does to its employees’ health.

In an emotional few paragraphs, the author describes working 50-60 hour work weeks to prove her dedication to PETA.  She mention how working at PETA desensitized her and warped her view of animal death. When she aired her stress with her coworkers, they looked at her like she was crazy. The stress was so intense that she had a panic attack in HR and felt she had to leave.

    1. PETA likes killing animals.

According to the author, an employee described to her that, “staff believes that their ability to euthanize animals makes them ‘badass’ — to not want an animal euthanized is considered ‘weak.’” When employees would ask about the conditions of animals given to PETA, they would be directed to ask the head of the department. This often didn’t happen because employees at PETA live in fear of their bosses.

Although dismal and disheartening, this article reveals what many of us already know: PETA is not a good organization and is definitely isn’t ethical.

  5. Is This PETA’s Most Hypocritical Protest?

Comments Off on Is This PETA’s Most Hypocritical Protest?

PETA continues to prove that no one knows how to waste over $50 million like it can. As it has done in years before, PETA is protesting during the 143rd Westminster Kennel Dog Show.

This year’s antics include protesting behind “blood”-soaked “dead dogs” while holding signs that say “Breeders Kill Shelter Dogs’ Chances.” The irony and hypocrisy is hard to miss given that PETA kills shelter dogs (and cats) at its own headquarters. A government inquiry into PETA’s shelter found the organization kills the majority of the animals within 24 hours of intake.

This has to be one of the most disturbing Westminster Dog Show protest PETA has done in recent memory–even rivaling the time PETA wore KKK outfits to protest the show, comparing dog breeders to the supremacist organization.

It’s egregious that PETA —which currently is trying to ban Bull Terroirs in the UK— acts as though it truly cares about the wellbeing of animals.

The Westminster Dog Show, which set up five different charities to help fund rescue activities, veterinary scholarships, and service dogs for veterans and people with illnesses, certainly seems to have done more to help animals in need than PETA has.

If PETA truly cared it would put its money where its mouth is and spend money on helping the same shelters they say are struggling to house homeless dogs—and we mean actually help, not just kill them within a day.

  6. Lawsuit Seeks to Take a Bite out of PETA

Comments Off on Lawsuit Seeks to Take a Bite out of PETA

Enough is enough for a small business called Paws for Effect, a company that adopts and trains animals to perform in various types of media.

According to documents obtained by TMZ, Paws for Effect is suing PETA for defamation. This comes after, as part of its smear campaign against the film A Dog’s Way Home, PETA sent an email to an executive at Sony and an “unknowable” number of others alleging Paws for Effect had numerous citations under the Animal Welfare Act.

The problem is, according to Paws for Effect, it has never received a single citation under the AWA. The company says PETA lied. We’ll keep an eye on this case.

It’s quite sad that PETA, an organization that killed 73% of the cats and dogs in its care last year, would attack Paws for Effect and its owner Debbie Pearl, who in her spare time runs a nonprofit that rescues pups from streets and shelters and turns them into service and emotional support animals. But what is to be expected from an organization that promotes women dressed in lettuce bikinis?

  7. PETA’s “Kill Mill” Slaughtered 1,800 Pets Last Year

Comments Off on PETA’s “Kill Mill” Slaughtered 1,800 Pets Last Year

In 2018, PETA killed 50 times more animals than it adopted out. Worse? PETA killed the vast majority of animals within 24 hours of intake.

It’s crazy that PETA, an organization with total revenue last year of more than $56 million, continues to care more about lettuce bikinis, frivolous lawsuits over animal selfies, and telling you not to use certain idioms like “bring home the bacon” than actually finding homes for animals in the shelter it runs out of its headquarters.

PETA’s animal custody records, which it filed with the Virginia state government, show that last year PETA took in about 2,500 cats and dogs. PETA slaughtered almost 1,800 of them–a kill rate of about 72%. See below for the full data:

That’s about one animal killed every hour of the business day.

Worse? A veterinarian with the state of Virginia inspected PETA and found that PETA killed the vast majority of animals within 24 hours of intake.

Even more horrendous? Only 35 cats and dogs were adopted. That means PETA killed 50 times more animals than it adopted out.

When looking at PETA’s “Year in Numbers Report” the organization mentions how many free vegan kits were sent out but not how many pets were saved. Why doesn’t PETA publicize these numbers? Presumably, because the public would find PETA’s dark side revolting.

  8. Which of PETA’s Campaigns Was Voted the Craziest?

Comments Off on Which of PETA’s Campaigns Was Voted the Craziest?

Our PETA’s Craziest Campaign Contest has just concluded and, after receiving thousands of votes, the winner has emerged. There are a lot of crazy PETA campaigns, but only one could take home the title of Craziest PETA Campaign.

And the winner is…PETA’s “Holocaust On Your Plate” campaign!

Yes, PETA’s insensitive comparison of farms to Nazi concentration camps was voted the most insane campaign of the radical animal liberation group—and for good reason too. The campaign was banned in Germany and panned as offensive everywhere else. In fact, it took years for PETA to issue a non-apology. The Anti-Defamation League, which combats antisemitism, put out a statement condemning the campaign, rightfully saying PETA’s campaign was “outrageous, offensive and takes chutzpah to new heights.” A CNN poll of more than 150,000 people found that 88 percent of respondents described the campaign as “an unfair and outrageous comparison.”

The runner-up in our contest was PETA’s campaign claiming milk leads to autism. That claim is not only untrue, it furthers the stigma that countless people with autism face on a daily basis.

Third place, meanwhile, is PETA’s “boyfriend went vegan” video that made light of sexual violence. You can see all 10 PETA campaigns here.

We promised that people who voted in our contest would be entered into a raffle to receive a free 12-month supply of delicious meat from Butcher Box, a premier meat delivery service. We have randomly selected the lucky winner (who we will keep private so that he or she is not harassed by PETA). Congratulations! We’re sure that person will have many tasty meals over the next 12 months.

Thank you to everyone who voted. Keep an eye on this site and our Facebook page for future contests.

  9. Even Vegans Turned Off by PETA’s Shock Campaigns

Comments Off on Even Vegans Turned Off by PETA’s Shock Campaigns

You may think PETA is an animal rights organization, but its work may more accurately be described as being “press sluts,” to quote PETA president Ingrid Newkirk. Most people are already turned off by PETA’s tactics—such as trivializing the Holocaust—but even vegans are pushing back.

Gillette’s recent “toxic masculinity” ad created some buzz and PETA couldn’t help but attempt to ride the coattails. PETA quickly declared “Traditional masculinity is DEAD” and posted an obscene video on Twitter featuring some disturbing-looking men doing some disturbing things with vegetables placed to look like male genitals.

As one vegetarian columnist writing for The Guardian put it:

I’ve been vegetarian for ages and have been considering going vegan. One reason I haven’t yet is pizza: vegan cheese is a crime against tastebuds. Another thing putting me off is Peta. The animal rights organisation seems to launch itself into the headlines every few months with an obnoxious advertising campaign that makes vegans look like pea-brains with whom no right-minded person would want to be associated.

Regarding PETA’s video, she said “Nothing has ever made me want to eat a carrot less.”

A vegan magazine writer even weighed in to voice her disgust with PETA:

I’ve seen some bizarre stuff in my day, and I’m no prude by any measure but this video has to be the dumbest f**king thing I’ve seen in a long time. Thanks PETA, I feel a bit violated after watching that. I’m pretty sure that the organization was just trying to benefit from the media storm that the Gillette ad created. I find it absurd, to be honest. What exactly are they trying to say here? Men have better sexual stamina if they eat vegetables? Have you seen the men in this video? They look sickly, slimy, and creepy AF. I think I’d rather put my mouth around a hot dog. Ugh I’m gagging.

In other words, PETA is undermining its own agenda to promote veganism. How ironic.

The writer concludes, noting the true point of the video:  “Anyway, here we all are, talking about PETA. Mission accomplished I guess.”

Yes, here we are, noting that PETA could be using its resources placing animals in homes instead of killing thousands of dogs and cats and using shock tactics for media attention.

The next time somebody tells you PETA is an animal rights organization, point to this video and ask, “How exactly does this help animals?”

  10. Animal Rights Charity Accused of Killing Dogs. Sound Familiar?

Comments Off on Animal Rights Charity Accused of Killing Dogs. Sound Familiar?

A top animal rights charity in South Korea is under fire after being accused of secretly killing hundreds of dogs in order to ensure a steady flow of donations.

The group, Coexistence for Animal Rights on Earth (CARE), says its primary mission is to end the dog meat trade in South Korea. The charity claims to have a “no kill” policy for the dogs it rescues and in the past has claimed that even if the dogs are not adopted, the charity will not kill them. Yet CARE reportedly killed 230 dogs to make space—and then claimed the animals had been adopted out.

Maybe the idea was to take a page out of PETA’s playbook? The killing of animals at PETA is infamous and well-documented—it’s no surprise that PETA looks kindly on this Korean group. PETA has, for years and years, described CARE as its “friends” in Korea.

There are some key differences though.

For one, it’s reported that CARE killed roughly 25 percent of the animals it takes in. PETA staff members might describe that as “amateurish.” In some years, PETA’s so-called shelter kills more than 90 percent of the animals it takes in. PETA has killed more than 40,000 animals, dwarfing CARE’s 230.

Another key difference: the people who launched the accusations and original protests against CARE are CARE employees themselves. It’s within the realm of possibility that some of these employees got involved with the organization because they actually care about rescuing dogs. Meanwhile, PETA employees aren’t out protesting their organization’s mass slaughter. (And we haven’t seen Humane Society of the U.S. employees protesting their predator-defending board, either.)

While this news should hopefully see some heads roll in South Korea, there’s a good bit of dirty laundry that needs to be cleaned with U.S. animal groups.
